:: New York cheesecake August 12, 2007

INGREDIENTS:
Crust

5 tablespoons melted butter
1 1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/4 cup granulated sugar

Filling
4 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
4 eggs
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon vanilla extract

PREPARATION:
Preheat oven to 300°.
Combine crust ingredients and press into bottom of a 9-inch springform pan.

In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Gradually beat in condensed milk; beat until smooth.

Add flour, eggs, and vanilla; beat until sell blended. Pour into prepared crust. Bake for 1 hour, or until lightly browned. Cool. Chill and garnish with dollops of whipped cream around edge and sliced fresh strawberries.

Mine didn’t look a bit like the New York cheesecake. More like YUCK cheesecake. Miahahaha. Some pictures after the jump.

  

Made the base (forgot to put sugar in..damn!), mix the stuff and poured in into the base.

In the meantime, I ate and drank the leftovers. I had some digestive biscuits (in place of the Graham crackers) with the Philadelphia cheese and of course some really sweet tea with the condensed milk. Wahaha.. calories.. calories.. and there’s still a quarter tub of Philly cheese left. Yum.

  

A good cook/baker should always clean up after themselves. So, back to work after a good tea-break.

Finally, the resulting cake.

Iyarghhhh.. very scary huh? haha.. Someone tell me.  How do you bake a cheesecake properly? cause what happens is that the middle part would always be like ‘flooded’, therefore needing extra minutes to bake them properly. In case you’re wondering WHY the top part looked like some sort of tiny iceberg, it’s because I scraped the top (already browning) so I could pop it in the oven again without burning it too much. Huhu..

I hope the taste would be fine for at the moment, it is still being left to chill in the fridge. I had wanted to rename it Nad Cheesecake (by request of the person herself) but then dear, I didn’t buy any strawberries to further garnish it. Opsie.. next time lah eh?

what if you lower the temperature of the oven then bake it longer. To prevent browning at the top, cover with foil in the beginning when you bake then later take it off so that it browns nicely.

kalo tak dpt gak…potong the burnt top and cover with topping…takde org tau pon..hehehe

those are just suggestions. I tak try lagi buat this kind of baked cheesecake,sll buat yg chilled jek. Senang (dan i malas) hehe!

slalunye if i buat i use base yg dh siap tu..beli je..
so if bake pun xlame sangat la..then lepas bake masok dlm fridge kjap..
so maybe u bake the base dulu ke kjap..
hehehe..xpandai pun sbnrnye..

the rasa…is sedap..not the kind that muak2 one..yeh..tapai-like texture..not taste….at least dpt menghilangkan rindu fiza pada tapai..haha..

HOW FUNNY… this reminds me of my first few cheesecakes!! You’rs looks better than mine did!!!! 🙂

I found a site that gave directions for making a cheesecake properly and had the yummiest white chocolate raspberry cheesecake I have ever tasted and it FINALLY came out perfect!
