What better way to celebrate a chocolate addicts birthday than to prepare a really chocolaety-cake for the big day!
BEHIND THE NAME
Aunty Rosnah was a neighbour of mine when the family stayed in Medan Damansara. She was happily married and was blessed with 4 lovely daughters. Aunty Rosnah makes one of the most delicious moist chocolate cake I’ve ever tasted. Probably as good as Betty Crocker’s Devil Chocolate Cake! And she was very kind to pass on the recipe to my mother when we transferred to Kuching in 1993 having been next door neighbours for over 3 years.
8 oz butter
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of cocoa (Van Houten)
3 cups of flour
1 cup of yoghurt
** Yoghurt may be sustituted with milk + 1 teasp of vinegar or milk + lime juice**
1 cup of boiled water
2 teaspoon of bicarbonate
1 teaspoon of salt
8 oz butter
A bar of cooking chocolate
Yoghurt is added after mixing in the flour mixture to the butter. Followed by boiling water. The mixture must then be stirred quickly. Arm power to the max!!
Bake in oven until cooked thoroughly.
1. Bro D said that the topping had no taste. Bro M said otherwise.
2. Mum said its best to bake the cake by putting a cover on top of the loyang.
